Diamond Jubilee Trees!
Wereham Wildlife Woodland have been successful in acquiring from the Woodland Trust a commemorative pack of hedgerow trees - part of the Woodland Trust initiative to plant 6 million trees in 2012 to celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s historic Diamond Jubilee. The trees will be used to fill gaps on the village playing field boundary. Look out for more details in the next issue!

Parish Council
Dear Readers,
This is just a note to say a big thank you to all the local residents who have supported in many different ways in my role as Parish Council Clerk to several of the local Parishes during the last 30 years. As you can see from the following copy letter I have finally decided to resign from the Wereham Parish Council and the letter makes my reasons very clear.

May I finally say I hope you had a very pleasant Christmas and I wish you a happy and healthy year ahead.
Jane Cowieson

Dear Mr. Chairman
It is after a great deal of thought and heart searching that after 20 years of being Clerk to Wereham Parish Council I have decided to resign with immediate effect. The new Councillors and yourself have illustrated by action and attitude that you are all sure you can carry out the task of Clerk without any effort and frequently endeavour to try. I have been informed by you that the Councillors find me intimidating, aggressive and sarcastic - this is a first after 20 plus years as Clerk to this Council plus a further 10 years to various other local Councils. There appear to be more unrecorded get-together meetings of most of the Councillors than there are official public Parish Council meetings with the Clerk present to record proceedings - this I find quite unacceptable. I also find it quite difficult trying to work with a group of ex-townsfolk who move to the Countryside for its beauty and tranquility and almost immediately ‘set about’ trying to convert rural Conservation Wereham into an Urban goodness knows what.

Wereham Tots
A very successful coffee morning was held during our Tots’ session on November 18th for Children in Need. The grand total raised was £130. Thank you to everyone who supported this even, those who gave prizes and bought raffle tickets, and those who baked cakes to sell. Also to all the helpers who spent time making coffees, etc., generally keeping busy. A good effort by all!

Sixteen Mums and Carers enjoyed a wonderful evening at the Berney Arms in Barton Bendish, organised by Eliza’s mummy - Jackie, who gave her valuable time in getting everybody’s choice of menu in on time. A job well done! (Looking forward to the next one!)

We ended for the Christmas break with our Christmas Party which was well attended. Mums and Carers helped out with the food and games before ‘Santa’ arrived carrying his bag of carrots. He was asked where is reindeer were…his reply was that he had to leave them at the farm whilst he was here delivering some parcels. Santa had several ‘helpers’ - some who wouldn’t leave his side and several who wouldn’t come anywhere near him and opted to stay as far away as possible. Each child received a present from Santa and when it was time for him to leave lots of hands waved him off…(with relief by some). Thank you Father Christmas for popping in to see us and we hope that your little elves will mend your trousers ready for next year!!

Christingle
Thank you Barbra for inviting us to the Church for a special Christingle service. The Church looked lovely with the pretty lights on the Christmas trees. Thank you for the orange with the sweeties attached, although they were probably all gone before we left the Church. Thanks to all your helpers who served lovely hot drinks to Mums and Carers and to Tom for playing all of our favourite songs and nursery rhymes and for letting us have a turn playing songs on the Church organ. See you at the next event,

From us all at Tots, Angela

Christmas Bingo and Bazaar
I would like to thank everyone who helped towards making the Christmas Bingo such a success, those who generously gave prizes, donations and those who attended on the night. Without your support we wouldn’t have raised such an incredible amount as £515. Again a big thank you to all who gave prizes and donations, and their help on the day of the Bazaar.

Father Christmas was kept very busy. £360 was raised - all for the Fighting Fund of the Village Hall. Thank you and Happy New Year.
